Like many New Yorkers, Gov. Cuomo's press briefings have become a daily ritual for me. When he talks about reimagining the future, it inspires me to think of how SKATEYOGI will evolve as a community. Before all of this, I saw online more for just discovery with in-person teaching being our primary mode. As we've put more energy into connecting with students online, I've realized that there is an opportunity for online and offline to enhance each other.
In one perfect example, I met someone who found us through Google search, watched some of our YouTube videos, ordered a skateboard from our online shop and then came for curbside pickup. Upon leaving they said they plan to watch some of our tutorials and are looking forward to attending class when they reopen.
In the spirit of keeping these connections going, I present to you our newest offering: Live Q&A with Kevin at SKATEYOGI! Every Wednesday at 5pm I will go live on our YouTube channel to answer your questions such as skate techniques, trick tips, skate gear, or anything else you can think of. Type your questions or comments in the live chat or submit them in advance.
On a more serious note, events in recent weeks of racists acts of hatred, violence and murder against our fellow Americans essentially for their Blackness have moved us express our outrage and sadness. Our vision at SKATEYOGI is a world where our differences are celebrated with peace and respect. These actions go against everything we believe and strive for in the greater community and future for our children.
As individuals we can take action by signing the petition to bring justice for George Floyd, get educated on the issues and remember to vote. As MLK said, "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
Peace and love,
