Good Morning! (or "Good Evening" depending on your time zone)
Been in Japan for a few days now, solo with the little one at the in-law's house until Yasuyo joins us in 2 weeks. Days spent mostly adjusting to the time difference, mornings at the city pool trying to keep cool in this humid heat and plenty of good home cooked food. Kinda bummed to find out that the local indoor skatepark has closed down but I've still managed to sneak in a few curb seshes. Next week is a holiday in Japan so I'm gonna split off for a solo skate mission with a rail pass while the little one hangs with the grandparents. Still haven't planned the itinerary, got a rough idea to visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, see who I meet along the way and skate, skate, skate! Best way to check in is on the SKATEYOGI instagram feed (you can also peep the @okbana feed for wider interests). Might even try writing some actual blog posts over at skateyogi.com besides just posting up these newsletters, we'll see how that goes...
No SKATEYOGI Classes until September!
Just a reminder that SKATEYOGI classes are on hold for the duration of the Japan trip and will resume in September. Stay tuned for the Fall schedule!
Weekend Events in NYC
Meanwhile, back in NYC, looks like there's lots to do this weekend with back to back BBQ skate jams. On Saturday BYO stuff to drink, eat, etc... and help the FEMME SKATE crew build a ramp at Lizziland! On Sunday check out Zered Bassett's photo show with a BBQ, skate jam and music. Flyers posted below!
Video of the Week: Hopps Skateboards welcomes Piro Sierra!
As if you needed one more reason to be stoked on Hopps Skateboards they go and add Piro Sierra to the family. Skating with Piro it's impossible not to get hyped off his raw energy and passion for skateboarding. The whole family will enjoy this two and half minute clip with a puppet intro and a nice appetizer of Piro's street style.
SKATEYOGI classes resume in September, stay tuned!
