Mata ne Nihon! (Until next time Japan!)
It's been a rad 5 weeks in Japan... chilling with family, meeting new friends, reconnecting with old ones and lots of skating! Hope everyone has enjoyed August! Looks like there's been tons of fun skate events in NYC and vacation action amongst the SKATEYOGI community. Best way to get a taste of the Japan visit would be to go check out the SKATEYOGI Instagram. Been posting highlights up there a few times a day. Someday maybe I'll even get around to putting up a proper japan skate travel article to help others navigate this rad skate destination. So fun!
Still got some bags to pack so gonna keep it brief for now. SKATEYOGI classes will resume this weekend!! I was gonna chill out the jet lag for one weekend but I miss all of you so let's sesh! Classes have been updated on the site so you can reserve ahead of time to make sure you get a spot.
Osaka Daggers!! (quick story / Video of the Week)
For one week while in Japan I hit the road for a solo mission to Tokyo and Osaka. Beforehand, I knew vaguely of Chopper and the Osaka Daggers but while doing research/lurking on the internets right before the trip I stumbled across a video which I was instantly drawn to for it's emphasis on the fun, creativity and community of skateboarding, just the same kind of vibes we have going on in SKATEYOGI. I reached out to Chopper on instagram and made a plan to go check out the scene at Triangle park while I was there.
The very night I arrived it was like stepping into the video below:
For the following three days I spent every evening at Triangle park skating and chilling with these rad dudes, even when we couldn't find the right words, spending time skating together was the most important bond. Such good memories. Cant wait for the next visit!!
