SKATEYOGI weekend forecast 3/7/14: Sunny Day, Sweepin' the clouds away. On my way to where the air is sweet.
Feeling pretty positive after a nice outdoor skate session on Wednesday at the LES park! It was the first of the year after a few previous attempts being thwarted by either lingering slush or snow melt dripping down from the Manhattan bridge above. Nice to add that back as a semi-regular option since it's directly on my daily commute to Friends where I do afterschool programs and some other random fun work stuff.
Good times at SBK!
Last weekend was popping at Skate Brooklyn! On Saturday we had adults shredding followed by a private lesson with a long-time 8 year old girl student who dropped in on the miniramp for her first time... so stoked!! Then on Sunday we had a great turnout for boththe Groms class at 11am and the Shredders class at 12:30pm! As I say in class, it's so easy to make friends skateboarding and I'm seeing alot of positivity as the kids learn together! Come check it out this weekend!
Ladies only sesh
And on Saturday evening the ladies get a chance to have the ramp all to themselves. The NYC chapter of the Girls Riders Organization is hosting another skate jam and I'll be there with in dad mode with my daughter. It's from 4-7pm at Skate Brooklyn and it's free so come and hang out!
Clip of the week
For this week's clip of the week I'm gonna suggest one of last years local vids from the NYC scene to get you pumped on cruising around the crowded streets. It's called Loony Bin as an homage to all those characters we run into when we're out there doing our thing.
