Weekend Forecast

Here comes Jonas!

Considering the timing of this message I've returned to the original title of the SKATEYOGI newsletter: The weekend forecast. As a metaphor I always liked how the forecast had the air of uncertainty that a skateboarder thriving on spontaneity can appreciate, room for improvisation, less committal than a solid plan, but also as a nod to the reality of being a skater in NYC where the weather cycles determine where and if we can skate much like a surfer checking the wave reports.

But as much as I'd love to just go with the flow and see if Jonas actually delivers as promised, I'm going to heed to all the numerous warnings and announce that SKATEYOGI classes will be cancelled for Saturday, Jan 23. That way we can all adjust our plans or maybe just go play in the snow in the morning :)

Groms Plus and Shredders classes will still be held on Sunday.

And while I'm sending out this message here are some other announcements from SKATEYOGI HQ:

Registration open for the next round of 6-week series that start the weekend of March 5.
Join the crew and shred together! Groms on Saturdays at 9:30am. On Sundays we have the Groms Plus at 11am and Shredders at 12:30pm. Last time around these series classes filled up pretty quick since we limit each to 6 students. Reply to this email if you have any questions. Sign up links available here.

Lunar New Year Day Camp on Feb 8
It's a new public school holiday so we'll be hosting a SKATEYOGI day camp at Skate Brooklyn. Kind of like a miniature version of our summer camp program with plenty of skating plus hands on SKATEYOGI labs in Science and Art. Cost is $135 for the day from 8:30am-3pm. ($120 for current afterschool students and included with the Monday afterschool winter session). Sign up here.

Skate Video Highlight: The Skateboarding Globetrotter III
Our friend Kyle has released the final installment of histrilogy mashing up freestyle skateboarding with basketball and adding plenty of drama and humor. Definitely a favorite amongst the SKATEYOGI afterschool crew.
