Everyone here at SKATEYOGI is so stoked on welcoming campers back this summer!
From the response we've received, it is apparent that our enthusiasm is also shared by our campers and their parents. Spots have filled up quickly and we're now down to just a few scattered spots left for both our SKATEYOGI Summer Camp and Urban Shredders camp. To accommodate some more aspiring summer skaters, we've just added two more full weeks of our Urban Shredders camp (Weeks of August 3-7 & 10-14). Sign up soon!
What is an Urban Shredder?
The Urban Shredder camp is designed for intermediate level skaters ages 9-15 to experience a week in the life of an NYC skater. We meet up at Golconda Skatepark in Downtown Brooklyn, warm-up and then skate and walk to a plethora of skate spots in the surrounding vicinity, from DUMBO to Brooklyn Borough Hall. This variety of terrain will help make them well rounded skaters and feed the creative spirit found through adventuring around with your skate friends.
Can my child join Urban Shredders?
We get this question a lot. We're not going to ask how high they can ollie, but we do expect Urban Shredders to be very comfortable on their skateboard. Would you feel comfortable with them skating ahead of you on a sidewalk, navigating the cracks and obstacles and stopping at the corner? If so, they probably have the skill to join.
Besides skill, they should also have a strong interest and skate independently outside of any classes or programs. In addition to interest, the program also requires stamina since we're out skating around all day. There's no need to already know tricks. We will learn together and encourage one another.
Feel free to reply to this email to ask any questions you may have about our Urban Shredders program.
