Yoooo! Skate Brooklyn is down with SKATEYOGI!!! I'm really stoked on this cause at the time it's the only publicly available indoor skate ramp in the area that you dont need to wait for a special event or be a cool kid to rip. So the deal is we show up as the shop opens on Saturdays at 11am and we have the ramp to ourselves until noon, no vibing, just a mellow pre-brunch sesh to get your ramp skills up just in time for the mini-ramp party season. It's still drop-in but in order to cover the facility fee it'll be $20/session.
This starts Saturday so it'd be rad to have a good showing and hopefully keep this going through the winter. Back in my Boston days we were lucky to have a shop with a mini-ramp that we could escape the harsh winters at. Over the years I actually started preferring it in some ways. Instead of in street skating were it's pretty chill until all of a sudden you have to use a bunch of strength to pop a trick and maybe slam hard, on a mini-ramp you're constantly shifting your body weight to pump the ramp so it's more graceful and a great workout too. Plus because you're on a framed wooden surface the falls hurt much less and alot of time it's just kinda like going down a slide. One analogy I'll make is that if street skating is like lifting weights, ramp skating is like vinyasa yoga, flowing through the motions, that was cheesy but whatever it's cool. Get at me with any questions, and let me know if you can make it since it'd be cool to know who's down. Yeah!! Na-ma-skate!! Kevin
