Happy Friday! [SKATEYOGI Weekend Forecast 6/6/14]

Countdown to skate o'clock!

Couple of summertime weather preview days there earlier in the week, skating in shorts exposing the shinners, sharkbites and other battle wounds. Free air conditioning at LES park as long as you keep pushing the constant breeze of the east river evaporating and smooth concrete still keeping a memory of the cooler evening providing some relief until the sun takes a peek and the school kids show up. Easy to over do it this time of year but remember balance the yang out with the yin of a calming yoga sesh, a dip in the epsom bath or just lay out in the grass under a tree in the park and melt into the ground.

Summer Class Update!

Indoor Classes at Skate Brooklyn: To make sure everyone gets lots of attention and time to shred, SKATEYOGI and Skate Brooklyn have decided to limit the class size to 6 students for all indoor ramp classes for $30/student starting tomorrow.

Reserve your spot in advance on the SKATEYOGI Square page. If the date you're interested in is still visible that means there's still space in the class. For those of you who purchased the class card, you just need to reserve your spot by emailing me.

Outdoor Classes: SKATEYOGI will continue to offer Rise & Grind classes for $20/student on drop-in basis this season. (Cancelled if rain!) No need to sign up ahead of time, and we'll keep the overall structure the same! Lots of free skating and coaching on tricks from the teachers. Super fun for kids! Stay tuned for more outdoor class offerings!

Spread the stoke!

SKATEYOGI will be offering a free skate clinic from 2-3pm at the Parkside Playground for the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Neighborhood Association (PLGNA) Youth Day. The park is located on Winthrop Street between Bedford and Rogers. If you're in the area come check it out and you can even help out and show the kids a few moves you've learned!

Also on Saturday is a rad fundraiser for Art and Abolition at Homage presented by a bunch of local organizations. Gonna check it out starting at 5:30 with the little one for the skate/run/ride. Details in the flyer below, and click it for the full schedule:

Check this awesome organization Skateistan spread the stoke to the children of Afghanistan! So rad to see the passion in skateboarding being harnessed towards such great social mission. Namaskate!!
