Good Morning!
One really rad thing about skateboarding nowadays is all the diversity in the skate community. Back when I started skating in the 90s, skateboarders were primarily teenage boys and some older dudes from the earlier generation. Now you see girls and boys shredding together, and people of all ages picking up skating for the first time whether they're 4 years old or 54 years old. Feeling very happy with the state of skateboarding as earlier this week skate legend Brian Anderson publicly came out as gay and the entire community showed their full support and love. At it's heart skateboarding is all about expression and creativity. You're not skating against anyone. I like to think of skateboarders as artists more than athletes, each one bringing their own unique point of view interpreting the canvas of the physical environment through 7-ply maple and urethane wheels. Looks like it's gonna be a wet weekend. Good thing we've got our indoor ramp space! Still some room in the weekend classes so please sign up to save your spot. There's also a little bit of room in next week's SKATEYOGI Day Camps on the public school holidays on Monday and Tuesday. The weather should be clearing up so we will take advantage of the full day to go out on skate adventures around the city. Please note that afterschool will not be held on these days. (but the day camp does have an extended day option with 6pm pickup) Namaskate! Kevin
