Last Saturday, SKATEYOGI instructor Nina and her adult skate campers bumped into Tony Hawk at Chelsea Skatepark! Like them, he was just there to get a session in on a warm Saturday morning. No planned event or photo shoot. Because it rained the night before, the small group of skaters there including Tony all pitched in to help drain the puddles and dry out the park. Even though it's obviously very special to meet up with such a skate legend in this way, there is also something very down to earth about Tony that must stem from him being a skater at the very core.
One of the best things about skateboarding is how whimsical a skate adventure can be. Grab your skateboard and go skate! There is no preset definition of what that actually means when your skateboard is both the means of transportation and the object you use at destinations. You never know who you'll meet along the way! Can't promise we'll bump into any more skate legends but there is another adult skate camp planned for Saturday, August 12 that is sure to be full of skate adventures! The kids Summer Camps have been tons of fun with lots of trips. Still some room to sign up for the remaining weeks. And it will be Fall before we know it so plan ahead and check our offerings for weekly classes! See you out there! Kevin
