So many choices!
"Interested in getting a board but not sure what size?" Walking in to a skate shop to pick out a board for the first time can be a bit overwhelming with all the specifications you have to choose from. One important decision to make is board width. Among the standard popsicle shaped skateboard decks, this is the defining measurement. A narrower deck allows for tighter turns and more technical tricks while a wider board offers more stability. For kids ages 6 and up, we recommend around a 7.5" deck. Even younger skaters can benefit from a narrower (and often shorter) deck around 7-7.25". For teens and older, standard decks range from 7.75-8.5" depending on personal preference. We've seen a lot of beginners do well on a 8" deck, offering a good mix of turning and stability. One nice thing about having our skate space and shop is that you can try out different setups to figure out what works best for you! See you on the ramp!
