We are delighted to share the news that the Mayor's Office and several City Council members have announced funding for 4 new skateparks in NYC being developed in partnership with Tony Hawk’s non-profit The Skatepark Project.
Even more exciting is that two of the skateparks will be walking distance from our PLG location! For years, the Brooklyn Skate Garden has had a dream to bring a skatepark to the Prospect Park area, headed up by the Pablo Ramirez Foundation. This project has been given the green light for a site in Mount Prospect Park, right next to the Brooklyn Museum. The second project is a much needed overhaul of Brower Skatepark, which has always had more of a DIY park vibe. It’s great to the see the Crown Heights locals will be getting a proper park after all these years. Stay tuned for more info if you’d like to be involved in the process of community input for either of these projects! - Kevin
