Skateboarding is very similar to dancing when it comes to feet. While we ask our students to wear sneakers with flat soles for skateboarding, here's a secret...those flat soled shoes don't provide the best support for everyday walking! For this very reason, you might find some of our instructors wearing non-skate shoes while teaching – to protect their feet.
Especially if you are an adult skater and can manage to carry a separate pair of walking shoes in your bag, we highly recommend it! Treat your skate shoes like ballet slippers you change into only when you are dancing (skateboarding). Even kids might benefit from wearing sneakers with more support unless they are skateboarding at some point of the day (like when they are coming to SKATEYOGI for classes or camp). Your feet will thank you for all the care!
