Hi everyone,
It is official! Yesterday, during his daily press briefing, Gov Cuomo announced that NY state summer day camps will be allowed to open June 29. I almost couldn't believe what I heard, so I went back and took a screenshot of the presentation to share with our team. We can now look forward with certainty to spending the summer doing what we love most: sharing the joy of skateboarding and creating lasting summer memories. I am happy to see children will have outlets available to support their physical and mental well-being after months of isolation. And as a fellow parent, I can appreciate an opportunity to lighten the load of juggling everything-from-home. Official NYS guidelines have not yet been issued for Summer Day Camps. After studying CDC guidance, we are confident we will be able to meet or exceed all of the requirements. Given our small size and the mostly outdoor nature of our activity, I believe a safe SKATEYOGI camp this summer will feel very similar to any other year with the addition of safety practices that have become second nature for kids during this current time. One modification we are certain of is that we will be limiting our capacity to 8 campers per week, down from the usual 12 campers. (NYC metropolitan residents only.) Due to this limited capacity, I would recommend registering soon to secure your spot if you would like to sign up. Please feel free to reply to this newsletter to ask me any questions you may have. Namaskate! Kevin
