A few days ago I had a phone interview answering questions for someone writing a magazine article on skateboarding. With skateboarding's upcoming debut in the 2020 Olympics, everyone is trying to understand this curious activity we care so much about. Why does someone get into skateboarding? For me, I was drawn to the seemingly pointlessness of it. You got to define your reason. Whether it was for creative expression or the feeling or the community, there was no predefined path – no rules. So, how do you learn how to skateboard? There are some basic techniques to acquire, then lots of practice, combined with feedback, positive energy and inspiration. Skate videos are a great way to expose skaters to different styles and forms or skateboarding. Even with the chance of becoming an Olympic athlete someday, I believe the creative pursuit is still a primary motivator. It's about the process, the moments you spend with your friends and the countless possibilities to learn and experience life. Namaskate! Kevin Summer Camp Running Through August!
